Liposuction Contouring

Body contouring with liposuction is best suited for people who have isolated areas of body fat and yet maintain an active healthy lifestyle and are close to a normal weight.

Localized areas of fat often do not respond to diet or exercise and may be an inherited trait. Liposuction is not a substitute for weight reduction but rather a method for removing localized deposits of fatty tissue, thereby altering body shape.

Liposuction can be performed on several areas of the body and in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures. It can also sometimes be used to treat gynecomastia.

Best results are obtained if the skin has enough elasticity to reshape following fat removal. Some older patients who have less skin elasticity may require skin tightening following liposuction. Dr. Jacoby will consult with you regarding what areas of the body you are interested in having contoured. Provided you are a good candidate for liposuction contouring, Dr. Jacoby can work with you to achieve your unique goals.

Hips, Waist & Thighs

Liposuction is a surgical procedure chosen by men and women to improve and contour hips, waist and thighs by removing unwanted deposits of fat. It is especially effective for areas of the body which do not readily respond to diet and exercise.

Body contouring with liposuction can be an excellent tool to remove the redundant fat from these areas with the assumption that  the overlying skin will tighten over time. The goal is to achieve a defined improvement in shape and tone. The procedure requires a general anaesthetic and in most cases can be performed as day surgery at the Kamloops Surgical Centre.

Recovery is typically very rapid with anticipated return to most social activities within 1-2 days and return to most types of work within 3-7 days.

Abdomen

Sometimes liposuction is used in conjunction with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to remove abdominal fat.

Abdominal liposuction is particularly well-suited for women and men who are of relatively normal weight but have isolated pockets of fat that cause their abdomen to appear to have contour irregularities. These localized fat deposits can be an inherited trait and typically do not respond to dieting or exercise. Liposuction is often successful in eliminating these localized areas of fullness or irregularities.

This procedure requires a general anaesthetic and can be performed as day surgery at the Kamloops Surgical Centre. Recovery is typically very rapid with anticipated return to social activities within 1-2 days and to most types of work within 3-7 days.

Upper Arms

Age-related changes compounded by significant weight loss can result in extra skin and soft tissue in the upper arm. Direct excision of the excessive skin and soft tissue in combination with liposuction can significantly improve upper arm tone and contour. This surgery leaves a relatively well-concealed incision along the inner aspect of the upper arm.

This procedure requires a short general anaesthetic and can be performed as day surgery at the Kamloops Surgical Centre. Recovery is typically rapid with return to most social activities within 3-4 days and return to most types of work within 10-14 days.
